SPIA 2016 AWARDSFULL METAL DOJO SHORTLISTED

Full Metal Dojo is pleased to announce that Movenpick and Four Points by Sheraton’s sponsorship of Full Metal Dojo has been shortlisted for ‘Best Sponsorship of a Sport, Team or Event of the Year in Thailand’ at the SPIA Asia 2016 Sports Industry Awards.

The SPIA Asia – Sports Industry Awards & Conference 2016 is scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand on 3-4 October 2016.

The sponsorship deal saw two of the world’s leading hotel brands – Movenpick and Four Points by Sheraton – sponsoring three of the 2016 MMA events by Thailand’s leading Mixed Martial Arts events promotion – Full Metal Dojo (FMD).peter-nicholas-lucas-jon-nutt-and-simon-p-rindlisbacher-l-r
The deal is unique in that it sees two competing brands sponsoring the opposing red and blue corners of the FMD MMA fight cage. The two groups of competing fighters in each event’s 10-fight Fightcard are also accommodated at the respective hotels. Not only that, but the hotels are on the same street, Sukhumvit soi 15, a short walk from the FMD event venue.

It represents an unprecedented brand-versus-brand deal unseen before in combat sports sponsorship. In an industry characterized by a desire for brand exclusivity, it’s refreshing to see two directly competing brands willing to go head-to-head, by sponsoring two sets of sporting competitors under the same event banner. It goes straight to the very ethos of respectful sporting competition, mirroring the respect always shown by Mixed Martial Artists at the end of their bouts.

FMD President Jon Nutt said “We couldn’t be happier to be working with Movenpick and Four Points by Sheraton. Their sponsorship represents not just a great moment for the sport in the region, but also everything that FMD represents in terms of promoting tourism in Thailand through combat sports training and events.”

Movenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 GM, Simon P Rindlisbacher said, “It is great to be part of upcoming FMD events again and seeing it getting more and more popular too. Also happy to support Jon and his passionate and hardworking team too.”red-corner-sponsorship-by-movenpick

Four Points by Sheraton Sukhumvit 15 GM Peter Nicholas Lucas added, “We are delighted to be partnering up once again with the great FMD series in Bangkok. FMD aligns well with Four Points by Sheraton concepts of competition, sport, fun and entertainment.”blue-corner-sponsorship-by-four-points-by-sheraton
